1979 Fender Strat, Bargain Priced with Some Issues

This is a lefty Strat from 1979 which has a lot of potential, and is priced accordingly. The main concern is the finish: During the late 70s, Fender was asked by the EPA to modify its spraying installation and to find a less polluting finishing method. Fender decided to try water-based finishes, which could be electrostatically sprayed on bodies. The new set-up was first used in 1979, but it soon turned into a disaster as finishes were prone to cracking, bubbling, and falling off after only a couple of weeks or months! Needless to say, this unfortunate development resulted in numerous claims from dealers and customers, after which Fender decided to return to polyester finishes.

This particular guitar is an example of that water-based finish, as seen in the pics. It would be a good candidate to have the finish removed down to the wood and oversprayed, or to be refinished in a color of your choice. The neck is actually in very nice shape, so only the body needs attention.

1971 Fender Tele Bass, 100% Original, Investment Grade!

This is a 1971 Fender Tele Bass, factory Left Handed, 100% Original with OHSC. It’s almost impossible to find an early 68-71 Tele Bass with 4-Bolt Neck & Single Coil Pickup in Lefty!

What makes this Lefty Tele Bass even more remarkable, is that it comes with a 1968 Neck! Fender started production on the Tele Bass in mid-1968, which is when they made a batch of lefty necks for this model. When it was time to assemble this bass in 1971, they reached in the parts bin and found out they still had a Lefty Neck in inventory! You can make out “23SEP68C” on the neck stamp!!

2017 Gibson Historic 1959/R9 Les Paul, New w/ COA/OHSC, Tiger Flame!

This is a brand new Left Handed Gibson R9 Les Paul from December 2017 with one of the more attractive tops I’ve had over the years. The top reminds me of Billy Gibbons’ Pearly Gates 59. It also looks like the 59 Burst featured at the top of the Les Paul Forum home page. It is a strong curly maple top with wide Tiger flame and striking 3-D movement from any angle or light. It is hard to find a top like this – I’ve had close to 50 R9s over the years, and this is one of the best I’ve seen!

The finish is VOS Ice Tea, the hardware is Nickel, the weight is very desirable for a Les Paul at 8 lbs, 6 oz, and the neck profile is reminiscent of a mid-59 Burst with .89/1st fret and 1.00/12th fret.
I also set up the guitar with 4/64/Hi E and 5/64/Low E at the 12th fret. Here’s another amazing thing about this guitar: the clearance of the strings over the Tune-O-Matic bridge was good with the stop tailpiece clamped down – something that I rarely see with Les Pauls and provides maximum sustain!

This Les Paul has it all – it’s truly a special R9!

Includes all tags/paperwork with COA and OHSC.

Was $5,995 Now $4,500

Hi Alex,

I indeed received the guitar last Friday which is extremely fast, also without any additional taxes levied by Customs, which I have never experienced before…

The guitar arrived in excellent condition, no issues whatsoever! Great looking guitar! Will give it a test upcoming weekend.

Thanks and regards,

Hi Alex,

Everything is great with the LP Special! The guitar looks and sounds killer. Great setup and the frets are in better shape than I was expecting for a 60 year old guitar.

Thanks again for all your attention in getting this guitar into my hands.

Hi Alex,
The guitar arrived safely this week . I put a set of 13s on it, and it plays and sounds great….one of the most balanced archtops I’ve played.
Setup out of the gate was perfect – I did not need to adjust a thing aside from the action. Kudos to your luthier for the fantastic setup, and thanks again for the great guitar.
