1968 Gibson Super 400C with Johnny Smith Pickup, Mint!

1968 Gibson Super 400C, 100% Original Including Factory Ordered Johnny Smith Neck Pickup documented with Original Gibson Custom Order Form, One-Owner, OHSC, Absolutely Beautiful Condition – Mint/Investment Grade!

The Gibson Super 400 is the flagship guitar offered by Gibson. This is one of the cleanest vintage guitars I have seen in over 40 years. It is in absolutely beautiful condition – so rare to find one in this condition! Check out the pictures – the guitar is even more amazing to see in person. It has just one small blemish on the top to the right of the tailpiece.

It is a one-owner guitar. It was special ordered with a factory-installed Johnny Smith neck guitar pickup as noted in the Gibson Custom Order Department Form which is included, as well as the original hangtag. This is a Very rare combination to see!

The guitar has a beautiful sunburst finish similar to late 50s/early 60s Gibsons I have seen or owned. Beautifully figured on back of body and back of neck. The owner took really great care of this guitar – there is NO finish checking or hardware aging, just remarkable. And it’s loud and resonant unplugged, with low action and no buzzing.

This guitar comes with a written appraisal from Thomas Van Hoose, leading expert on the Gibson Super 400 and author of the definitive book on the Super 400: “The Gibson Super 400: Art of the Fine Guitar.”

Includes OHSC (the case is as nice as the guitar), Gibson Custom Order Form, and hangtag.

A truly magnificent example of Gibson’s finest guitar and a most welcome addition to the most discriminating vintage guitar collection!
